Street Racing
Street RacingIt's a Saturday night in the back streets of a large North American city. Sitting behind the wheel of small import cars with engines revving are two young men staring each other down. Their feet poised over the gas pedal, they anxiously await the thumbs up. When given, the car is dropped into gear, the pedal is slammed to the floor and the two cars are quickly off, screeching their tires and sending up clouds of dust.
Sounds like a plot from a summer blockbuster movie. It is - and it isn't.
Cars and movies have teamed up for many memorable films over the years. Most recent, Fast and The Furious brought the high-powered cars of today's street racing scene to the big screen. But, what many of today's street racers will tell you is that it's not all about taking risks.
One racer lays out his rules of the road: "Don't race on busy streets, be it day or night, especially if there is a school in the area; If you want to act cool in front of your friends, you shouldn't be racing; If it's not your car, you shouldn't be racing it; Know your area…if you don't know the road or the area, you are asking for big trouble; and, use common sense. Think before you go, and if you don't think it's safe, it's probably not."
Street RacingThese sentiments are echoed in many chat rooms and on message boards that appear all over the Web, hosted and visited by both street and legal track racers.
"Remember that a car can kill you in any situation and that a real man lifts off the throttle in a dangerous situation," says one racer known only as Dr. Disque.
The racers are also very adamant about flying solo.
"I will NOT race with someone in my car, no way, never," says Turboed 2. "I know what I am doing is stupid, and I should be the only one to pay if something happens."
"I never drive stupid when I have a passenger in my car," says noslow5oh. "Usually it's my girlfriend and I couldn't live with myself if I did something that got her killed."
They all agree on the rush they get from pushing their cars, and their luck, to the limit.
"I race because it's a rush. I don't do drugs or any of that garbage, so racing is my high for that moment," says Zakk, 19. "It's a rush running from the cops."
A typical racer is a male aged 17-24 and most likely driving an import. Honda Civics and Camrys are definitely the new car of choice because of their size and street handling. The money being spent to supe up, remodel and refit these machines is commonly in the thousands of dollars.
"They're definitely spending a lot of money on outfitting their cars," says Lee, 16, whose boyfriend is a street racer. "Doing body jobs, painting, putting in systems, new tires, black lights, stuff like that. Making the car look nice is pretty much essential in this game."
But you cannot forget about making the car faster by dropping in a powerful engine and modified air-intake and exhaust equipment.
"The sky is the limit as to how much we spend on our cars," says Zakk. "I've probably spent about $4,000 worth of mods into my car. At $17,000, I've invested about 20% of the original cost back into the car. However, it is not uncommon to see kids dropping $10-30,000 on high performance motors, suspension, and styling enhancements."
Street RacingRace nights can sometimes attract crowds of up to 400 or 500 people. The meets begin with an inspection, by drivers and onlookers, under the hoods of the cars. Popular meeting sites in Toronto are on the Queensway, Steeles and Kennedy, Finch and Weston, and the Tim Hortons at Woodbine and 16th according to Toronto police. Another popular area to race is Ellesmere road. Police just ranked the intersection at Warden and Ellesmere as Toronto's most dangerous in terms of accidents. Another popular stretch, Gore Road, says Sgt. Ted Holtzheuser of the Toronto Police traffic safety program, even had start and finish lines painted on it.
"Racers like to use streets on jurisdictional borders," said Holtzheuser in a Toronto Star article, "so they can disappear a few blocks away, then resume when the cruiser turns around."
Many of the racers like to use industrial parks and country roads "out in the stick", referring to the countryside. Most, but not all, say that racing on main streets is just asking for trouble.
"A lot of people view street racing as these hellions who like to race in the middle of the city and endanger the public," says a racer known as LT. "In this, like anything, you have your morons [and] these people are your morons. The rest of us go far out in the sticks to avoid hurting anyone and causing anyone trouble."
Unfortunately, these 'morons' exist and people are getting killed. Such was the case in Ottawa this past summer. Two cars were racing on a busy street when one of the cars, a black Acura carrying four teens, lost control and smashed into a light standard. The driver was pinned in the driver's seat and died before police could get him out. An 18-year-old male was taken to hospital with fractures. The other two teenagers were treated in hospital and released.
Street Racing"Witnesses indicate that the vehicles were racing each other at a high rate of speed and one of the drivers - perhaps inexperience has a lot to do with it - over-steered coming around a curve at a high speed and hit the pole," said Constable Dan Melchiorre.
It was estimated by police that the cars were traveling at speeds of 150km/h just before the crash.
More recently, on November 28, 2001 in Toronto, a street race killed a pedestrian. At 1:30 in the afternoon two seventeen-year-olds were racing east on Ellesmere Avenue in Scarborough in a Ford Explorer and a Mazda MX-3. The Explorer went out of control after bumping the Mazda, mounted the sidewalk and slammed into Steven Francisco, 18, before coming to rest on its roof.
The high school student had been walking listening to music on his Walkman and never heard the truck coming. Francisco was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the two cars were unhurt and both were charged with criminal negligence causing death.
"There's not one teenage male who drives that hasn't raced on the streets at one point or another. But it's instances like these that re-affirm my beliefs that the police should sanction racing on closed roads on certain nights during the week," said one racer in response to the incident. "At all other times, racing should be dealt with very strictly. They're not going to make the problem go away, but why not make it safer and eliminate the possibility of another innocent bystander's life being taken?"
Sanctioned racing on closed roads as a means to getting the racers off the streets may be a stretch, but police do recognize that a problem exists. Constable David Mitchell of the Traffic Unit, York Regional Police Service and Constable Steven Barcham, Aurora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police recently developed strategies to coordinate the efforts of police agencies in the GTA. Police received instruction on laws regarding stock and modified motor vehicles.
A total of 1,687 vehicles were stopped between a four-month period and 1,001 charges were laid under various legislation such as the Highway Act, Environmental Protection Act and Criminal Code violations.
On Canadian roads, the 16-24-age group is posting staggering numbers of auto accidents causing serious injury or death. This group makes up only 13% of the drivers on our roads - 7% male and 6% female - yet they account for 26% of road fatalities and 26% of serious injury caused by an accident. Further, 31% of passengers that died in car accidents and 34% that were seriously injured, also fall in the 16-24-age group.
Realizing that the young people are using city streets to race, Police forces across North America are coming up with ideas to get the cars off the roads and onto legal racetracks.
"Beat the Heat" is a program that brings together teens and police officers to build and modify cars and then pits the young drivers against the officers in races. Started in the States, there are currently over 150 Beat the Heat programs across North America.
Saskatoon has its own Beat the Heat chapter called Street Legal that runs under the motto "If you want to race, the street is not the place!" Officially started on August 22, 2000, drivers between the ages of 16 and 24 are invited to race on a track in a controlled environment while learning about vehicle and traffic safety. For $15, they get to race from 6 PM until dark. Reaction from teens, says Constable Tim Bayly of the Saskatoon Police Service, has been positive. "We average 70-80 cars. They have an object they can see
and touch as well as take on the cops in a race at the track. It also provides a chance for them to speak to officers on racing and cars in a positive manner."
The racers generally just want to use the awesome power of their cars and to show off the money and work they have put into them. If they have nowhere to do it legally they are going to continue to race along city streets.
"In Saskatoon, we have a large street running East/West called 8th Street," says Bayly. "It has 3 lanes each direction separated by a raised boulevard. This street has been the local "cruise strip" for many years. It is also where the illegal racing generally takes place. My partner and I stopped 2 guys racing on 8th street and 3 weeks later one had been killed while racing. He never did make it out to the track."
Street RacingWhat is the one thing that Constable Bayly would say to a teen thinking of getting involved in street racing? "You cannot control all the factors while racing on City streets and sooner or later, you will have to face consequences for your actions. Come out to the track and try and "Beat the Heat!" You will find that police officers are easy to talk to and we look forward to seeing you there."
But, the burden of making the right choice ultimately lies on the shoulders of those looking for a place to get the rush from speed.
"We must remember to respect our machines," says a racer named Sean. "No matter how much money you've invested in beefed up braking, once you get a few thousand pounds of metal, glass, rubber and plastic moving at a high rate of speed, and you lose control, well that is a weapon and it's likely to hurt you or someone else.

Fear and loathing in las Vegas
Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Five years later? Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era—the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run… but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant.…
History is hard to know, because of all the hired bullshit, but even without being sure of "history" it seems entirely reasonable to think that every now and then the energy of a whole generation comes to a head in a long fine flash, for reasons that nobody really understands at the time—and which never explain, in retrospect, what actually happened.
My central memory of that time seems to hang on one or five or maybe forty nights—or very early mornings—when I left the Fillmore half-crazy and, instead of going home, aimed the big 650 Lightning across the Bay Bridge at a hundred miles an hour wearing L. L. Bean shorts and a Butte sheepherder's jacket… booming through the Treasure Island tunnel at the lights of Oakland and Berkeley and Richmond, not quite sure which turn-off to take when I got to the other end (always stalling at the toll-gate, too twisted to find neutral while I fumbled for change)... but being absolutely certain that no matter which way I went I would come to a place where people were just as high and wild as I was: No doubt at all about that…
There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not across the Bay, then up the Golden Gate or down 101 to Los Altos or La Honda.… You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning.…
And that, I think, was the handle—that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting—on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave.…
So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark—that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.
MOM
Mom"
Little baby told God hey I'm kind of scared.
Don't really know if I want to go down there.
From here it looks like a little blue ball
That’s a great big place and I'm so small.
Why can't I just stay here with you?
Did I make you mad, don't you want me too?
God said oh child of course I do
But there’s somebody special waiting for you
So hush now little baby, don't you cry
Cause there's someone down there waiting whose only goal in life
Is making sure you're always gonna be alright
A loving angel tender tough and strong
It's almost time to go and meet your mom.
You'll never have a better friend
Or a warmer touch to tuck you in
She'll kiss your bruises your bumps and scrapes
And anytime you hurt
Her heart’s gonna break
So hush now little baby, don't you cry
'Cause there's someone down there waiting whose only goal in life
Is making sure you're always gonna be alright
A loving angel tender tough and strong
It's almost time to go and meet your mom.
And when she's talking to you make sure you listen close
She's gonna teach you everything you'll ever need to know
Like how to mind your manners, to love and laugh and dream
She'll put you on the path that bring you back to me
So, hush now little baby, don't you cry
Cause there's someone down there waiting whose only goal in life
Is making sure you're always gonna be alright

A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young"
"A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young" lyrics
ERIC CHURCH LYRICS
"A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young"
I like fast cars and sharp dreams
Chased a lot of crazy things
Left behind my share of broken pieces
This morning I turned 36,
When you just remember half of it
You wonder how you outlived Hank and Jesus
[Chorus]
I put the rage in a river, the roll in a thunder
But you kept me from goin' under,
When that current got too heavy
I always thought I'd be a heap of metal
In a cloud of smoke, foot stuck to the pedal
Sold for parts like a junkyard rusted-out Chevy
Fear, I've had none
What the hell made you wanna love
A man who was gonna die young
[Verse 2]
In the mirror I saw my surprise
Who knew gray hairs liked to hide on a head
That didn't think he'd live past thirty
If I make it thirty more,
It's the brown that you'll be looking for
As you run your fingers through it and say, "Slow down, honey."
[Chorus]
I put the rage in a river, the roll in a thunder
But you kept me from goin' under,
When that current got too heavy
I always thought I'd be a heap of metal
In a cloud of smoke, foot stuck to the pedal
Sold for parts like a junkyard rusted-out Chevy
Fear, I've had none
What the hell made you wanna love
A man who was gonna die young
[Verse 3]
Call it intuition, or call it crazy
Just thought by now I'd be pushing up daisies
But I'll gladly stick around if we're together
So baby, when you bow your head tonight
Could you tell the Lord I've changed my mind?
And with you I'd like to live forever

Is the 4th amendment gone?
U.S. Supreme Court Rules 8-1 that Citizens Have No Protection Against Fourth Amendment Violations by Police Officers Ignorant of the Law
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a blow to the constitutional rights of citizens, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 8-1 in Heien v. State of North Carolina that police officers are permitted to violate American citizens’ Fourth Amendment rights if the violation results from a “reasonable” mistake about the law on the part of police. Acting contrary to the venerable principle that “ignorance of the law is no excuse,” the Court ruled that evidence obtained by police during a traffic stop that was not legally justified can be used to prosecute the person if police were reasonably mistaken that the person had violated the law. The Rutherford Institute had asked the U.S. Supreme Court to hold law enforcement officials accountable to knowing and abiding by the rule of law. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the Court’s lone dissenter, warned that the court’s ruling “means further eroding the Fourth Amendment’s protection of civil liberties in a context where that protection has already been worn down.”
The Rutherford Institute’s amicus brief in Heien v. North Carolina is available at www.rutherford.org.
“By refusing to hold police accountable to knowing and abiding by the rule of law, the Supreme Court has given government officials a green light to routinely violate the law,” said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute and author of the award-winning book A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State. “This case may have started out with an improper traffic stop, but where it will end—given the turbulence of our age, with its police overreach, military training drills on American soil, domestic surveillance, SWAT team raids, asset forfeiture, wrongful convictions, and corporate corruption—is not hard to predict. This ruling is what I would call a one-way, nonrefundable ticket to the police state.”
In April 2009, a Surry County (N.C.) law enforcement officer stopped a car traveling on Interstate 77, allegedly because of a brake light which at first failed to illuminate and then flickered on. The officer mistakenly believed that state law prohibited driving a car with one broken brake light. In fact, the state traffic law requires only one working brake light. Nevertheless, operating under a mistaken understanding of the law, during the course of the stop, the officer asked for permission to search the car. Nicholas Heien, the owner of the vehicle, granted his consent to a search. Upon the officer finding cocaine in the vehicle, he arrested and charged Heien with trafficking. Prior to his trial, Heien moved to suppress the evidence seized in light of the fact that the officer’s pretext for the stop was erroneous and therefore unlawful. Although the trial court denied the motion to suppress evidence, the state court of appeals determined that since the police officer had based his initial stop of the car on a mistaken understanding of the law, there was no valid reason for the stop in the first place. On appeal, the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled that even though the officer was wrong in concluding that the inoperable brake light was an offense, because the officer’s mistake was a “reasonable” one, the stop of the car did not violate the Fourth Amendment and the evidence resulting from the stop did not need to be suppressed. In weighing in on the case before the U.S. Supreme Court, Rutherford Institute attorneys warn against allowing government agents to “benefit” from their mistakes of law, deliberate or otherwise, lest it become an incentive for abuse. How much more do have to take until you say HELL NO THATS A NUFF.........its only your rights there taken away......
Why are grandparents so important?
Why Are Grandparents So Important? By Jason Ladock | Parenting | Rating: Grandparents are like shady trees that has an ever welcoming attitude towards life. They are always there to offer their cool shade to the next generation. It seems that they have all the love, affection and warmth in the world stored within them. The unconditional warmth and infinite love create a special bond between the two generations. More than the parents, grandparents feel the pain when the child gets hurt or starts crying. Not to undermine the fact that grandparents look like the happiest individuals on this world, when they spend time with their grandchildren. Today, the task of raising the children is not restricted to the parents. The fact of the matter is that millions of grandchildren around the world are raised solely by their grandparents. In some unfortunate cases, parents do not shy away from abandoning their responsibilities, however, grandparents showcase their lion’s heart and they take up the responsibility of raising the kids, being completely aware of the fact that this emerging responsibility can take a toll on their health. As a child grows up, he/she will encounter dozens of teachers, but there cannot be any replacement for grandparents. Grandparents have a goldmine store of knowledge. Not all grandparents may possess bookish knowledge, but they have a wealth of real life experiences and information to share, which is not taught in any of the schools out there. The best part is that you will always see that million dollar smile running down their cheeks as soon as they see their grandchildren. More than often, they see their own reflection in their grandchildren, and despite growing age acting against them, they leave no stone unturned to see happiness in their kid’s life. Some of the grandparents have all the time in the world to devote towards their grandchildren. Some parents make use of this opportunity and leave their child at the care of the grandparents. In this manner, they are able to generate more revenue for the family to lead a better life. They serve as a great link between the past, present and the future. They introduce their kids to the past traditions, get involved with them in the present and help them shape their future. Today, children often look up to their grandparents for suggestions, since they know that grandparents have seen and faced the real world inside-out. Being the most experienced candidates in the family, they are also entrusted with the responsibility of keeping the family together. Grandparents and kids are seen as best pals. Kids often reveal secrets and problems about their life to their grandparents, and the latter offers them valuable advice on how to deal with the situation. In this manner, grandparents make sure that the kids do not cross the boundaries by their actions. Goes without saying, grandparents are very important in our lives, when it comes to imbibing great values in our kids. Kids may not listen to their parents, but they will pay heed to what the old grandma or grandpa has to say. After all, getting advices from the roots of the family tree (grandparents) will ensure that the fruits (children) are sweet, worthy and lovable.

Is marriage a dying institution
Plus 50yrs anniversary plates just don't mean a thing anymoreWe are living in an "all about me","instant gratification","excuse making" society compared with past times.Have you ever listened to the reasons people give for getting married?I have heard other women say,"He can be a real jerk and he has cheated on me,but he makes good money",I have heard,"If something doesn't work out,we will just get a divorce".I don't think people take marriage seriously anymore. And what happened to the roles that men and women have in marriages? Now they are all askew ! I think that there is something to be said about traditional roles in marriage-there was a better balance and better support system within the household.
AND now we have shrinks giving everyone labels of dysfunctional "syndromes"and honestly, people use EVERYTHING as an excuse. You see many people blaming their parents or their self esteem or their inability to pay attention and using those things as a crutch instead of going forward and becoming proactive enough to fix small problems in relationships or their everyday life for that matter.30 years ago you didn't see a man shirking his responsibilities as a father because HIS father was an alcoholic.30 years ago you didn't see a woman sitting on her butt and eating little debbies all day while watching jersey shore, ignoring her husband and children and blaming it on the fact that they have attention deficit disorder.plus as human we learn buy sight and word so we got a group of kids who's not give a rats ass about anyone or anything people the word about to get real weird real fast I'm talking about some real twisted stuck these kids are going to pick up on and learn in do and create, there's no looking back now buy a ticket and hang on because it's going to be one hairy ride....TS

But thats just my opinion.Sorry it was so long but I think people just are too lazy to try anymore. Its a sick world we liven now where sex is somfused for love people get just say hey look i married to split up and hook up thats right its gotten so bad most want even let there mate side of the bed get cold before moving some internet love of the week inn to the home , the onr thing we should work at we just put it out with the trash most think five years is a long time really
At least among this low as a people of this planet did another human being emotions doesn't even matter we have recycled relationships now they last a good 15 20 years and that's it not like our grandparents 50 60 70 years sickness and in health good times and bad today's generation when things start to turn to bad we just start over we don't try to fix it we don't attempt to fix it we just put a bandaid on it and move on and that's really sad because there's a lot of sleazy attorneys out there that's making millions on ppl miseries and our kids we're giving them all kinds of motional defects from splitting
I most of us need more love in our lives sex is not bad
Im telling all men make her feel like she the queen of your world and lick that pussy like a porn star and she will never leave you married people don't make time for a good time in the bedroom sex is good something you never lose in your marriage and love and respect the one you took vows with life is short work at it never give up marriage is for life so Love, Respect, loyalty, Trust,Onisty, Truth...Remember know one person is perfect but you married them for a reason so you take the good with the bad and work at it ..
DID YOU TELL HER I LOVE YOU TODAY ..???????

life after a parent passes away
At first i felt loss then i was confused in way she had to pass young. I look for any any excuse to make sense of the situation. And Yes i was a momma's boy
Its like you heart was cut out and diced into pieces and insert back up with parts missing in place back in your chest I was totally devastated.. I stopped living I was only existing as a human being I didn't know what I was going to do without her You could say i was in a very self destructive mode and this will continue for months on end just existing not living i Even Tried going 600 miles away ..nothing helped....then in September her birthday comes. That was a long day, but 5 days later I would have a revelation...as I'm doing my best that day to get numb I would hear her voice say.son i tought better you got to man up and get your life going again. As I sit here and think about all the things she didn't teach me in life I come to realize that I was her legacy if I stopped living then she was totally gone but as long as I keep going and doing the things that I needed to do my love to be productive I was honoring her in the after life. After a Million tears I realize that she's no longer has to suffer in pain Are deal with the day today headache that she was going through my mother was a very special and kind human being and I truly do miss her so this holiday season don't forget to hug the ones that you love and keep them close spend as much time with older parents or grandparents as you can because you never know when they're going to go .....Rest in peace Mother. .....
